A daughter, a mother, a wife, an employee, a boss and an all-rounder. With so many feathers in her cap, she still manages to give her best in every role she plays. That is the Strength of a Woman! The informal caregiver working round the clock without any expectations only for her loved ones. She has accepted several challenges and has also made major contributions to the world of work.

For all the roles and challenges, the woman needs to build herself physically and mentally. Health and wellbeing have taken a back seat for every woman whether she is a homemaker or a working woman. The Covid-19 times have certainly changed a lot for everyone and has given a bigger share of responsibilities to the woman making her juggle between work and house chores.

For all women make self-care a priority through these simple steps which can lead to a healthier life:

Get moving: to ensure physical fitness:

Remember, you don't have to go to the gym to exercise. Workouts can be done at home with kettle bells and dumbbells. Zumba and yoga are great indoor workouts to boost metabolism and improve your physical as well as mental health.

Every now and then, take out time for yourself to practice self-care. Self-care includes everything related to staying physically healthy including hygiene, nutrition, and seeking medical help when needed.

Mental wellness:

When we think of mental health, we frequently conjure up images of mental illness. But mental health is more than just not being sick; it includes everything that keeps us healthy mentally, emotionally, psychologically, and in our relationships with others. Some mental health conditions affect women more than men, and it is also common for mental health issues to affect women differently than men. As a busy woman, it is all too easy to become engrossed in work and daily life. Simply put, you must make time to do the things that make you happy.

  • Diet is Important

Avoid sugary foods in particular, which can cause fatigue and irritability when blood sugar levels drop. Furthermore, certain vitamins and minerals such as selenium, omega-3 fatty acids, folate, vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and zinc, appear to alleviate depression symptom.

  • Sound sleep is a key

Adults require 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night, according to the Sleep Foundation. Some women may require less or more sleep than others, so pay attention to your body and understand your individual sleep needs.

  • Strong support group

Friendships boost your self-esteem, reduced stress assists you in coping when life gets difficult, and provide you with a sense of purpose. Women who have close friendships report being mentally happier and physically healthier overall.

Caregiver's Stress:

Stress has been described as an overabundance or scarcity of stimuli. Too little can cause depression, lethargy, feelings of worthlessness, and a lack of focus. Excessive stress, on the other hand, can cause exhaustion, "burn out," or even "nervous breakdown." You can manage stress with relaxation techniques such as:

  • Meditation: The aim is to quiet your mind, relax your thoughts, and increase your awareness. It also can lower your blood pressure and adrenaline levels. Meditation can also help you become more aware of your priorities, allowing you to make more productive life choices.
  • Yoga: According to yogic science, regular practice of asanas and pranayama strengthens the nervous system and helps people deal with stressful situations positively.

Inner and outer beauty are synonymous. We feel and look better when we take care of ourselves. When we prioritize our health, we live happier lives in general.

One well-known slogan, "Healthy Women, Healthy World," embodies the fact that women, as custodians of family health play a critical role in maintaining the health and overall well-being of our communities.
