Rainey season is finally coming. It is giving big relief from the heat of summer. However, you need to be careful about a few health issues in the season. Mosquito born diseases such as malaria, dengue, etc. are among them. Mosquitos flare up with the starting of the rainy season, so here are some measures that can help to prevent mosquito transmitted diseases.

Avoiding mosquito bites using insect repellents is very important, especially if you are living in areas which are endemic to mosquito transmitted diseases.

Cover your arms and legs to avoid mosquito bites. Also use mosquito nets. Using these measures is as effective as using a preventive medication.

Take malaria preventive tablets in consultation with your doctor if you lived or travelling/travelled to malaria endemic areas of the country.

Avoid stagnation of water around your houses and buildings. Stagnant water is breeding ground of mosquitos. You can cover water bodies like tanks etc. If there are open water bodies breeding mosquitos, you may use larvicides.

In addition, maintaining hygiene is very important to prevent any disease any time including in rainy season. Take care and enjoy the rains.
