Every year, World Environment Day is observed on 5th of June. The theme of this year's World Environment Day is Ecosystem Restoration. In today's society, we are all aware of the harm we have done to our environment. Ecosystem restoration is the process of assisting in the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded, damaged, or destroyed.

The facts

According to a recent study conducted by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the University of California, climate change has the potential to become a public health crisis. As our environment deteriorates, it is critical to recognize the interconnected nature of human health and environmental health. Because they are two sides of the same coin.

Pollutants in the environment can cause respiratory diseases, heart disease, and some types of cancer. Furthermore, children and pregnant women are more vulnerable to pollution-related health problems. Climate change, according to Harvard Medical School's Center for Health and the Global Environment, is likely to increase rates of allergies and asthma, among other illnesses, in the coming decades.

There are numerous ways to reduce carbon footprints that contribute to excessive air pollution. You can stop wastage of energy/electricity consumption and reduce the use of your air conditioner and prefer to purchase energy-efficient lights. You can also use solar lights to decorate your home.

Go paperless

If you want to take it a step further, you can go paperless! All bills and letters from banks, electricity/mobile bills, and other service providers can be delivered to your inbox via email. Remember, only print documents if they are absolutely necessary. You can also help by recycling any paper or card that you no longer need.

Avoid Bottled Water

Buy for yourself an environmentally friendly reusable bottle for carrying water. Because of recent reports of chemical contaminants in bottled water, many people are becoming concerned about drinking water from plastic bottles, particularly using plastic bottles to feed infants. One must avoid bottled water because it is inefficient, costly, and generates a large amount of plastic waste.

Making the switch to an environmentally friendly lifestyle can improve your health and life in general, while also benefiting the world around you. Ditching unnecessary chemicals, unhealthy foods, and unhealthy routines can all contribute to a healthier you while also benefiting the environment and ecosystem.
