Is animal based food or plant based food good for heart health?

There is always an endless debate as to which food is good. While animal based food provides good amount of proteins, plant based food improves health. Both animal and plant based food are essential. Thus, diary is included as small part of food by most vegetarians. Plant based food seems to score better over animal based food. Here are some facts that explain why plant-based food is good for heart health.

  • Animal-based foods is rich in bad saturated fat: Research shows that diet rich in saturated fats which are derived from animal-based food and refined vegetable oil are unsafe for your heart health.
  • Plant-based food lowers bad cholesterol: Bad cholesterol also known as low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is harmful to your heart as it delivers cholesterol to tissues and causes clogged arteries leading to heart attack. Plant-based food and good cholesterol can help to lower bad cholesterol (high density lipoprotein - HDL)
  • Plant-based foods boosts immune system: Plant-based foods which improve liver function boost the immune system by providing antioxidants.
  •  A healthy plant-based food reduces the risk of heart disease: Although food like red or processed meat can increase the risk of heart disease, limiting the number of servings of it per month along with adding more healthy plant-based food can lower the risk of heart disease. Therefore, it is important to choose a healthy plant-based food.
