Sunlight is good for our health and helps in production of vitamin D which is beneficial for bone health. However, heavy sunlight is harmful to our health. It causes skin problems immediately or may develop after some years. Sun burn is a skin damage caused by ultraviolet (UV) rays of sun. In sunburn we can see red rashes on the skin and it may cause mild pain. If it is severe it develops swelling and blisters. Some people even feel like fever with chills, headache and weakness. Following are some measures to prevent sunburn.
Avoid sun exposure: -To prevent sunburn the best way is to avoid sun exposure in midday (10am to 4 pm.) during which sun rays are strong and have UV rays. If you want to stay out doors in midday find shadows it may be beneficial.
Apply sunscreen lotion: -Ultraviolet rays are main cause of sunburn. So, use sunscreen lotions to avoid sunburn. Chose sunscreen lotion with sun protection factor (SPF) 30 or more. Apply this lotion 30 minutes before exposure to sunlight. You have to frequently reapply it for example, after heavy sweating or swimming.
Wear correct clothes: - If you want to go outside during midday then cover your body with right clothes to prevent sunburn. Wear long sleeves shirts and pants and loose fitting clothes. Now a day’s UV protection clothes are available, which are beneficial to prevent sunlight.
Protect your eyes and head with accessories: -In summer, always wear sunglasses with UV protection to avoid sunburn. Use caps on head when you are going out in midday.
