Fasting is something that is closely associated with our culture. Many of us or at least our previous generation has observed several fasting days every month. Research is suggesting that fasting – abstaining or reducing food and drink intake periodically could be good to our health. Research shows that intermittent fasting can have several beneficial effects to health.
There are negative aspects to fasting as well. Some may feel dehydrated, and some may develop headache, heart burn and difficulty in falling asleep.
Is fasting for everyone? No, for example, if you are diabetic or heart disease patient, you should avoid fasting. If you are tired or debilitated, better to avoid fasting. In these situations, blood glucose and electrolyte levels may fall rapidly, which could be dangerous.
Intermittent fasting is good. Talk to your doctor and go ahead with fasting.
