Being active about your mental health is as important as your physical health or wellness. You know you are mentally healthy when you are not carrying any baggage with you while you attempt or complete a certain task.

Some of the below tips for mental health will surely leave you elated with peace of mind and happiness:

  1. Be positive about yourself- Irrespective of the judgements being made about you, cultivate a positive and encouraging opinion about yourself. This will help to build self-esteem which is an important tool to deal with challenges in life.
  2. Cultivate Gratitude- Be thankful for whatever you are blessed with. Many do not even know what the meaning of a certain facility or luxury is while you have a life to live with it.
  3. Talk it out- Being vocal about what you feel is a sign of taking control of your well-being and not your weakness as misinterpreted by many. So do not hesitate and share what you feel.
  4. Walk & Exercise - If you are active, your brain generates good feel hormones that help in the mental well-being of an individual. Indulge in an activity or sport to build confidence and to release uneasiness while you are into the activity. The walk will help you stay active and keep your muscles relaxed.
  5. Eat and Drink sensibly- Diet plays a crucial role in mental well-being. Include a lot of fresh veggies and fruits in your meal that will give proper nutrition and essential elements to your brain. Cut down on sugary drinks as it affects your brain functionality.
  6. Live and enjoy your present- This is the only time you are living in- the present. The past is gone and the future is unpredictable. So learn to live in the moment and be happy with whatever you have at the moment.
  7. Disconnect- Sometimes you need to snap a connection between yourself and work or others around you. This helps in relaxing, re-boosting and rejuvenating your powers and strengths. So take a break from people and gadgets around you and your brain will thank you for the break.
  8. Proper sleep- Your mind and body are on a repair mode while you are sleeping. Your cells are getting repaired and your body which needs rest is charging itself. So sleep at least for 6 hours and take a good one for good mental health.
  9. Be realistic and reasonable with your self- In this virtual world, we often set targets which are not achievable in the real world. Remember, you are living in the real world so do not be harsh on yourself if you cannot achieve any target. Learn to define and differentiate between what you desire to achieve and what the world wants you to do. And then take control of what makes you happy.
  10. Reach out- Seeking help is not a sign of weakness. It means you are willing to look for solutions and are ready to execute them too. Talk to your loved ones and you will see what a relief you get which is good for mental health.

Everyone tends to forget that the mental health plays a key role in our overall well-being, we should maintain a healthy and balanced link between mind and body (i.e. physical and mental health).
